All New – Emonda ALR

Lightweight aluminum perfection bolsters Émonda

Trek is unveiling an all-new line of ultra-lightweight aluminum road bikes so unrivaled in weight and ride quality, it’s the first aluminum bike worthy of the Émonda name. Built with unmatched attention to balance and handling, Émonda ALR offers elegance on a new level, far surpassing the lightness and performance of many of its carbon competitors. Bringing the same level of class-leading weight and ride quality to aluminum price points, Émonda ALR will make you seriously rethink what is capable with aluminum.

Every detail of the Émonda line, from frame design to each component choice on every model, serves the same audacious goal: to create the lightest line of production road bikes ever offered. One of those details is something never before seen on an aluminum road bike. Trek’s elegant and weight-saving Invisible Weld Technology, a revolution in welding technology, requires less material while simultaneously increasing the strength of connections. The results are smooth and flawless seams, stronger bonds between the frame’s tubes, sparkling aesthetics, and decreased frame weight.

Émonda is a dream bike to sell as much as it is to ride. All ALR bikes come with Émonda’s popular H2 fit and geometry in addition to being spec’d top-to-bottom with complete group sets. Ensuring that every Émonda ALR is spec’d as a complete system ensures the bike’s ride quality a place alongside its carbon brethren. The Émonda ALR frame is equipped with DuoTrap S, allowing riders to take full advantage of this technology on an aluminum bike with a pure racing pedigree.

Trek’s lightest and best-riding aluminum race bike pushes the boundaries of what’s possible for bicycle weight and performance.

New 300 Series Alpha Aluminum – Premium-grade aluminum hydroformed in size-specific tubes that provide the perfect balance of stiffness and weight.

Brooks Cambium Saddles

Brooks Cambium Saddles.

After more that 150 years of bringing saddles to the cycle market worldwide, Brooks have added to their line by introducing the all new Cambium.

Made from natural rubber and organic cotton canvas fitted to a cast aluminium frame, it’s comfy out the box.

At Bicycle Doctor we have Mens and Womens test saddles available to try.

30 years (at this old place!)

So it was in April this year that we reached 30 years at the same location in Rusholme… we thought some people might like to see some photo relics I’ve dug out of a dusty old box!

SO much has changed, and particularly over the last year or so it’s feeling like quite a different shop. The old faces are still around but the influence of the younger lot and their strange cycling ways are having an effect!

This was the shop and it’s proprietors not long after we opened in 1983

Within a few months they’d picked up this reprobate; you might recognise him…he won’t leave!

80’s Tandem Touring! This laden treat belonged to a certain Malcom Cowle, a popular Withington frame builder some people may know of. (After expanding to the florists next door)

The grand re-opening of 1994!

A very 90’s mountain bike display from soon after the re-opening. A couple of classics in there!

Old Shots_0004

Such a loveley display attracted the local Ram-raiders! They couldn’t keep their grubby mitts off the anodised shiny bits! ….note our Sheffield stands now outside the shop

And this one’s just a classic from an old Flying Doctors club ride. Broken collarbone I think it was – Ouch!

See you soon!

Welcome To The New Bicycle Doctor Website

Greetings. So here it is the all new Bicycle Doctor website. As some of you may have noticed in recent weeks our website has been down. There have been several enquiries and comments about the website but worry not we’re back! ‘Is it just the website that’s changed?’ We hear you cry. Well pretty much, that and a slight change to the view we have towards what the good old internet can bring to a business. So we’re still the same cooperatively run bike shop we were before. In taking a look around the new website you may notice that the biggest change is that we’ve introduced ecommerce functionality. For years we had decided that our shop just wasn’t the kind of business for it, but we recently decided, that if we were able to strike a balance between offering a modern, transactional website, with the quality face to face service that can be found in our existing bricks and mortar shop then its only right that we take the plunge. This will not dictate the way we sell bikes. Sure you’ll be able to pay for/reserve a bicycle via our website but we won’t be sending any bikes by post you’ll have to come to the shop and collect it. Sorry. This was always one aspect of ecommerce we were keen to steer clear of, boxing a bike up for home delivery making home assembly necessary. We’ve always taken pride in the attention we pay to a bicycle when setting it up to ensure it runs as smoothly as possible and we couldn’t compromise that. Meeting customers face to face has always been an important factor to. Bear with us while we continue to expand the site, it’s unlikely that this site will ever represent everything we stock in our store so if there is anything you can’t see give us a call, better yet come on down to the shop, we like meeting faces new and old. From all at Bicycle Doctor. Thank You.
