- Measure your inside leg measurement to the floor wearing normal biking shoes, subtract 3" (for mountain bikes), or 1" (for road bikes) then subtract 10" (the average distance from the bottom bracket to the ground).
This will give you the maximum frame size that you will need.
But this isn't written in stone....compact frames will measure smaller and give more standover height clearance.
It is always a good idea to stand over the bike in question and check you have enough clearance ie 1"- 2" for road bikes, up to 3" for hybrids, between 3" and 5" for mountain bikes.
