The Knutsford Great Race is a totally unique event held once every ten years, featuring Original Dandy Horse Machines, Bone-Shakers and Penny Farthing Cycles dating from the middle of the 19th Century. (Chorlton Wanderers will meet 10.30am at Chorlton Water park, off maitland Rd, Chorlton  to cycle there at 11am)

Manchester Labour Clarion Cycling Club invites you to join our inaugural fund-raising bike ride to Quarry Bank Mill. Comrades can choose to join the ride at any point along the route from where we head out towards Manchester Airport to take the 8-mile Orbital Cycleway to Styal Country Park. At a very leisurely pace the ride should take around two hours to complete although we will of course be stopping en route to take on liquid. £10 will guarantee you a place in the peloton and for anybody who wishes to come along but doesn't have a bike, a number of bikes have been made available to hire for a minimal fee Meeting Point: Alexandra Park – Claremont Road entrance, Whalley Range, Manchester

Explore the beautiful Cheshire Plain on the outskirts of Manchester on this pleasant, 30 mile countryside route. This ride is mainly flat so ideal for road bikes. Stately homes, places of scientific interest and the famous Jodrell Bank is the order of the day.

Sun 12th The Bruntwood Ellipse Cycle Sportif The Bruntwood Ellipse Cycle Sportif
  • The 55 mile Ellipse is a new challenging Sportif that heads from Knutsford into the Peaks, taking in many of the classic climbs of this spectacular national park. At 55 miles it’s a medium length but challenging course and should appeal to the serious cyclist, and will begin at 8:30am.
  • The Mini Ellipse again leaves Knutsford on a circular route through the leafy lanes of Cheshire. At 22 miles, we aim to appeal to those recreational cyclists, those who are new to cycling, and importantly for those with families and kids. It starts at 10am

We stop at a pub for lunch and then make our way back to Chorlton Water Park Meet at Chorlton Water Park car park at the bottom of Maitland Rd, off Barlow Moor Rd. Bring a puncture kit and pump, waterproofs and money for the pub. No unaccompanied children. (Under 18)

Sat 9th British Heart Foundation Dark Peak Mountain Bike Challenge 2010
Starting from Edale Village Hall, four exciting routes offer differing levels of difficulty for a great day of mountain biking – from a taster of the trails in the Dark Peak to a full on assault of all the best the area has to offer for a memorable, exhausting and exhilarating day of biking.
  • Adventure Route (approx 14 miles) Start time: 10.30am A great introduction to the Dark Peaks. Although this is our shortest route, it will still provide you with some technical rocky trails, big hills and wonderful views.
  • Advanced Route (approx 23 miles) Start time: 10.00am This route is suited to more experienced riders wanting to ride some of the more technical trails, taking in some of the Dark Peak classics. Expect big hills and loose rocks.
  • Extreme Route (approx 34 miles) Start time: 09.30am For very fit and competent riders only. You'll peel off from our advanced route to conquer tougher climbs, fast technical descents and great views of Ladybower reservoir. With 34 miles of steep hills and technical terrain, this really is a tough challenge.
  • Ultimate Route (approx 40 miles) Start time: 09.00am New for 2010: For those that want to push themselves to the limit. You'll extend the Extreme Route by an extra 6 miles to test your legs by climbing even higher then test your head for speed, with a super
