Busch and Muller Luxos U Senso 70/90 Lux Front Dynamo Light in Black

The LUXOS U is utilises B+M's premium IQ2 light technology with a combined light and reflector which has a light field twice as wide as previous LED head lights. It illuminates an area that is several times larger with maximal homogeneous light out put. In Busch + Müllers own words: 'So wide, so far, so pristinely bright'.  

• The Panorama Close Range light provides a very wide range of light, both to the sides of the bike extending beyond the edges of the road and over 30 meters in front of the bicycle thanks to the additional LEDs.   
• The Flood Light function is used for navigating tricky road sections in the pitch dark and utilies all of the light sources as the same time.  
• The Handlebar Push Button can be used as a signal pulse warning light during the day andat night offers a beam boost whilst stationary.  All important light functions can be managed from the handlebar: ON/OFF, floodlight, Beam boost headlight etc..
• USB charging option:  Charges USB devices (mobile phone, GPS, MP3 players etc) with USB energy.  An integrated lithium cache battery supplies constant voltage.
• Integrated lithium cache battery: This additional energy storage unit is used for peaks of demand as well as charging. It recharges continually when cycling. The charging status is indicated by an LED inside the handlebar button.
• LICHT24: Day Ride light signalling LEDs shining brightly forward. An automatic sensor switches automatically between day and night mode.
• Standlight: Special LEDs are directed so they are perceived by other traffic participants. Can be switched off with the handlebar push button.
• Rear Light Monitoring: A control LED inside the headlight continually shows whether or not a connected rear light functions properly. 
• The Integrated Buffer Battery supplies the charging current to the USB port and powers the flood and parking light functions. To fully charge the backup battery, you require 20 minutes at a speed above 17 km/h without a USB device connected and with lights switched off.  The Luxos U is then optimally prepared for operating/charging a USB device within its capabilities.

The Luxos U is not comparable with a normal mains charger for mobile devices, it supplies devices with power.  Currently this may suffice for charging applications at high current loads, sometimes it is just enough to slow down the battery use. The higher the speed the more charging current is potentially available. At slow speeds, the buffer battery in charging mode cannot recharge because only limited energy is available from the dynamo (about 3 W at a speed of 15 km/h).  Some mobile phones however, use up to 5W. This means that the cache battery is charged first, without that no power is supplied via the USB output. Once a certain state of charge is reached, the output will switch to the USB.  If the mobile phone empties the battery, the power supply to the USB output is switched off at its minimum charge level and the buffer battery only is recharged.  With these breaks in charging some USB devices indicate with the 'start of charging' sound.

We recommend buying the Luxos U from a bike shop where you can try your device to minimise exchanges if your device will not charge. If your primary use is to be the charging of mobile devices, we recommend the E-WERK. This device has no integrated buffer battery, which functions as a lock and generally a higher wattage is available than the Luxos U.

Light At Close Range:

For a secure ride it is important to be able to see the road directly in front of the bicycle. Bumps or potholes in the road can be seen better if this area is lit and can be circumnavigated by short and intuitive steering. During darkness this is only possible if the area between one and four metres in front of the bicycle is lit brightly and homogenously. Subjectively the need for light at close range is higher the slower one is riding, because one's balance can more easily be influenced by obstacles. "With light at close range" means that the light field emitted by the B+M headlights starts directly one metre in front of the bicycle.

IQ Technology: The Light Revolution: 

Designed by B+M the core of IQ-TEC is the revolutionary idea to use a high output LED as an indirect light source. The complete reflective surface is used to focus and guide the light. If one looks into the reflector of an IQ headlight one only sees the metalised surface. Once the headlight is turned on what takes its place is "nothing but light" with superb efficiency and barely any wasted stray light. 

Daytime Running Light.  Better Seeing And Being Seen:

For bicycles which are less conspicuous in traffic by nature a daytime running light is a substantial advantage. LICHT24, the daytime running light from B+M is the ideal solution. Additional signalling LEDs shine upwards and generate maximum visibility. The "regular" riding light is focused on the road and limited by its clearly defined light/ dark boundary to prevent glaring on coming traffic.

When a headlight with LICHT24 is switched on it will always shine: during day and night. LICHT24 has a day mode and a night mode. As soon as the integrated sensor is activated, it switches automatically between both modes. LICHT24 is approved by the German road traffic regulations. The day mode may also be used at night because the main LED is always active.
